IT Users and IT Practitioners NVQ
Research conducted by e-skills UK shows that more than 90% of new jobs in the UK require the use of information and communication technology, yet more than half of UK employers feel that their staff do not have sufficiently developed IT skills. Another study by ntl:Telewest Business found that employees waste an average of one hour and 38 minutes a day on the ineffective use of communication technologies.
These studies demonstrate the need for competent IT users within businesses to increase productivity and reduce waste. The NVQ in IT can help you assess the level of competence of your employers using a nationally recognised standardisation, enabling you to identify problem areas and improve efficiency within the business.
The NVQ in IT is divided into two separate routes, Users and Practitioners
The NVQ for IT users is suited for employees for whom the knowledge of IT is useful in their daily tasks. The NVQ is beneficial for any business in any sector where employees make use of IT on a day-to-day basis. Competence levels range from basic operation of a computer and programs such as Word and email, to website, imaging and specialist software.
The NVQ for IT practitioners is suited to those whose job role involves following specific working procedures in an IT environment. Typical job roles could include a member of a team installing, operating, maintaining, or supporting IT facilities and services. The content covered is more complex than for IT Users, covering data analysis, software development and technical issues.
IT Practitioners NVQ Levels 2 and 3
