The
web portal provides distance-learning facilities within the organisation, maintains the corporate
image and values. Course information, seminars, development workshops plus
other relevant project documentation is available on the portal e.g. FMEA, 8D,
Project Mandate. These are created in line with the standard literature
format. "Log in" details and subsequent access levels manage which information is available. Knowledge Systems and

Web Portal
The web portal is the primary interface for data capture. It gathers feedback from all areas covered by the Corporate University; training, short-term support, long term projects plus continuous improvement activities.
Decision Tools
Key metrics are embedded within the web portal; these provide the strategic information for effective decision making and include items such as training frequency, results of feedback (short term and long term; ROI, training impact), skills and competency matrices. It utilises data gleaned direct from the Corporate University including completed training and actual spend against budget. The web Portal has the ability to interface to external data systems which allow additional metrics to be included within the Corporate University web portal.
Technology
The Corporate University is web enabled and can either be run across the Internet using secure technology or within a companies Intranet. All records and databases are held in secure database structures. The Corporate University training is delivered using a combination of distance learning and on site/off site delivery.
Networks and Partnerships
The Corporate University facilitates communication and partnerships within organisations, this aids the dissemination of ideas and best practice across departments and locations. External networking is promoted within the Corporate University Program where organisations can adopt best practice. The level of involvement is at the discretion of each member organisation. The Corporate University Program partners consist of universities and FE Colleges plus external training companies and consultants.
People Processes
A number of HR facilities are embedded within the Corporate University program, these include Employee profile, Team profiles, Skills Matrices etc.
Personal Development Program
The Corporate University Program, in conjunction with an organisations Human Resource Department, can create a Personal Development Program (PDP). This ensures resource is allocate for that particular development activity, for example, to provide a key employee a path to an academic qualification.
Learning Processes
The Corporate University Program ensures there is a culture of learning within an organisation. Promoted, supported and publicised by senior management this shows an organisations commitment to improving their workforce.
It is important to manage employees' expectations, as with all processes there are strict budgetary controls and limits embedded into the Corporate University and all training has to ultimately benefit the organisation. The management team running the CU program report on progress and advise on ongoing policies.
